Bal(main) Man

Can we simply discuss how bad-ass this model looks for Fall 2010 Balmain?  You had best believe I will add this look to my fall wardrobe, complete with lace-up combat boots.

SPURR of the moment!

SIMON SPURR F10 from SIMON SPURR on Vimeo.

A new menswear obsession!  I was breaking for lunch the other day and I happened to stroll through one of my favorite menswear departments to look at the new Rag & Bone and Neil Barrett pieces when, 'What's this?!  Motorcycle pants made from jersey-knit with ankle zips?!'  And now I am hooked to Simon Spurr.  This menswear designer has some darn good credentials, working for YSL, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren Purple Label, and Ralph Lauren Black Label.  His current namesake collection brings to mind a mash-up of London rocker with Saville Row tailoring.  I will definitely have Spurr on my radar!

Leave January Alone!

So apparently I am one of the few people that LOVED January Jone's Atelier Versace dress that she wore to the Emmy's on Sunday.  Immediately when I saw the Mad Men beauty, I said "Hell yes!" and then was surprised to hear so many critics panning her for her choice.  That shade of blue literally looks electric with her complexion and hair, and I really like the conic-shaped ode-to-Madonna bodice.  Yes, her frizzy hair left a little to be desired, but she is a HOT blonde.  Who cares if she looks like she had a roll in the hay in the backseat of a moving convertible on the way to the red carpet, she is a January Jones, damn it, and most of these critics would kill to look like her (or at least have been in that backseat.)

Guys, forget the Speed Stick, this is how you stay dry.

I was reading this month's comedy issue of GQ and there was this fantastic little photo spread featuring actor, Jay Baruchel.  And of course it featured my favorite piece of menswear (and womenswear for that matter), tailored OUTERWEAR.  I wanted to share the photos with you all.  Guys, ditch the Crombie this fall for something a bit more sophisticated.  (All photos from GQ Magazine.)

The "Other" Anna.

We all know Anna Wintour most definitely makes the world go round for fashion, but we mustn't forget the ferocity that is Anna Dello Russo, the fashion editor-at-large for Vogue Japan.  While Wintour pushes the envelope in the pages of American Vogue, Dello Russo is the queen of pushing the envelope with her own personal style.  With every pic that is taken of her, whether it taken by Scott Schuman for The Sartorialist, or Tommy Ton for JakandJil, and countless other street fashion photographers, I am screaming "Yes, Anna, YES!"

Not your mom's Glamour Shots!

If anyone has been watching Kathy Griffin's "My Life on the D-List" you were probably blown away like I was by her Betty Paige photographs by famed fashion photographer, Mike Ruiz. Kathy has been using Mike Ruiz for her promotional campaigns as well as for the cover of her book. Upon visiting his online portfolio, I was overjoyed to see his photographs for Lance Bass, Brooke Shields, and even Miss Piggy. I was most impressed by Morgan Fairchild, making her appear as a 20s something rock star. Mike's ability to take a well known star and completely make them look like someone else is so beautiful and astonishing at the same time. Mike, please take my photo!

J'adore Dior!

Continuing with my new love affair with Resort 2011, John Galliano brought forth a fantastic swinging sixties ode to French fashion.  Some of my favorite pieces included the lace dresses, and striped trench-dress paired with a motorbike helmet (and I do hope Dior sells the   Motorbike helmet).  It was tres feminine, and tres chic; everything that Dior is adored for.
