Jolly Ole' Saint Nicholas!

It is never too early to start looking for that hot pair of shoes you'll be wearing to all those holiday fetes you'll be attending, and Nicholas Kirkwood is the man to find the perfect pair.  The British designer, who used to make hats, launched his label in 2005, and has already won several awards, including Footwear News Designer of the Year Award in 2008.  It is easy to see why he is getting the accolades.  His designs are jaw-dropping, with his wild architectual designs, and intense mix of textures (as seen in his Fall 2009 collection).  He also collaborates with Rodarte (strappy over-the-knee boots), Alberta Ferretti, and Pollini (which is a whole other blog in itself - I love the new Pollini!)  You can see for yourself why you must own a pair of his gorgeous shoes...or if you are nice this year, the other Nicholas in the sleigh might give you a pair.

The real Devil Wears Prada

Oh, how I love September.  The weather starts to turn, the leaves start to change color, and here in Arizona, we may be lucky enough to have a day below 100 degrees...wooo!  The best part about September, is that it's fashions biggest month of the year.  The rag mags, especially Vogue, release their colossal September issues filled with the very best in fall fashion.  R.J. Cutler has put together a documentary, The September Issue that is creating quite a buzz in the fashion world, following the famed Anna Wintour of Vogue, as she puts together the September 2007 edition, the largest in the publication's history. (It weighed nearly 5 pounds!)  The September Issue is already playing in New York, and starts September 11 in LA and other select cities.  I am desperately searching if Phoenix will be showing the movie - when I find out, I most definitely will let you know where.  I will be racing to the box office, squealing with delight!

Fashion's Night Out

Fashion's Night Out, September 10, marks the beginning of New York Fashion week. Vogue as well as many retailers across the globe are taking part in this celebration to get people to shop again in these not so fabulous economic times.  Check out http://fashionsnightout.com/
to learn more about this fantastic event, including a list of participating retailers, and where you can purchase the official Fashion's Night Out Tshirt, which benefits the September 11th Memorial & Museum.

Have you driven a Ford lately?

Now my close friends know that there are many designers I adore. Each designer I love for different reasons. But I must say that I am loving the Tom Ford ad campaign for his eyewear. Of course, Mr. Ford loves to sell with sex, and we are all smart enough to know that it works. Let us remember how he turned the Gucci house around in the earlier part of this decade, or his nearly pornographic advertisement for the launch of his fragrances. I own a pair of his sunglasses, the Farrah, and they simply make me feel good. They make me feel glamourous. Plus, the models he uses for the campaign are quite striking.

Let Us Begin.

Hello everyone out there in cyberland. Everyone and their mother has their own blog now, so yes, a blog may not be groundbreaking, but as a person who is very passionate about fashion, especially women's fashion and accessories, I guess I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the subject that I want to express. Haute Andre would be a great avenue for which I can write these thoughts down.
I guess I should tell you a little about me. I was born in Wisconsin, and raised in Iowa. I finished my degree in marketing at Iowa State University in 2005, and then my best friend, Krista, and I packed up all our things and headed west to Arizona. In the last four years, living in the Valley of the Sun, I have developed my love for designer fashion. I work for a great company that allows me to utilize my knowledge and passion for the designer world everyday and share it with the customers here in Arizona.
Soon, I will be moving again, this time to Los Angeles, with my boyfriend, Jason, so that we may both further our careers. I am stoked about the move, as Los Angeles is the epitome of fashion and design on this half of the country. Plus, who doesn't want to be close to the beach!
My dream someday is to be in the audience at Bryant Park, with my little notepad and pen, scribbling away about what I adore (or loathe) about the new collections.
